About Rob Thompson.

After many years of model making for the three dimensional design industry I moved into television and film. Initially designing and constructing models and rigs for TV commercial and title sequences then moving into the film industry. I have designed, constructed and supervised models and effects ranging from low budget to Bond.

Alongside this I was building my own Hillclimb and sprint cars and then I started work for Activa Technology and though still flirting with film effects (eg. Fibreglass BMW bodywork for a car that was in pre-production and 4 wheel drive Aston Martins and Jaguars for James Bond) I gained a huge amount of experience in pre-preg carbon, manufacturing components for clients such as McLaren, Prodrive, Williams, Lifeline and many others.

Designing and constructing patterns, moulds and components for Activa and then Steve Broughton's hugely successful Westfield and later his Jade sportscar brought me into contact with another field of work.

I also restored F1 cars and built one off bodywork, designed and fitted suspension and braking systems to test cars for Yamaha/Toyota and Proton.

2 years on a project in Malaysia, building and testing the marshall's cars for the Malaysian GP, and testing prototype cars in Japan as well as a period building, testing, repairing and fitting Ohlins dampers to circuit and rally cars.

Through SBD and modifications to his OMS single seater sprint car I met Steve Owen of OMS and this led to the latest project of the OMS 25.
